Following are the other famous operating systems besides Windows, Linux & MacOS:
- UNIX – UNIX came up at AT&T Bell Labs in the 1970s. It is a multi-tasking and multi-user OS. Linux and macOS are derivatives of UNIX. The characteristic feature of UNIX OS was that it was modular. This modularisation came to be known as UNIX Philosophy.
- BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) – This OS was a derivative of Unix Operating System and was developed at the University of California, Berkeley. Modern day BSD based OSs include FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD. BSD based OSs are said to be more reliable and stable than all other OSs.
